Friendship Place

In May of 2011, Saint Sophia Cathedral became one of 26 faith congregations represented on the Board of Friendship Place (FP). In 2010, Saint Sophia Philoptochos began their outreach to Friendship Place, a haven for the homeless where counseling and other support is offered to the approximately 30 average number of daily visitors.  Currently, one of our members serves on the Board of Directors of  FP.  We prepare protein-rich breakfast sandwiches and a hot lunch for 30 persons which are delivered to the Friendship Place Welcome Center on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Anyone interested in helping to prepare these meals are encouraged to contact Elaine Joost at
